The Webster University men’s basketball team improved to 7-1 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, with a 59-45 win at Greenville College (IL) on January 22. With the win, the Gorloks pulled into a first place tie in the SLIAC. Nick Jones (SR, Heritage HS, IL) led Webster with 16 points.
The Gorloks built a 34-21 halftime lead and cruised to the victory. A suffocating Webster defense held the Panthers to 15 field goals and 31% shooting for the game, forcing 17 turnovers as well.
Willie Trimble (JR, Riverside CC, CA) had 12 points, dished out a team season-high nine assists, and had four steals. Drew Moore (SR, Northwest HS) had 10 points and eight rebounds, while freshman Jarrod Huskey (Hillsboro HS, MO) dropped in nine points and tied Moore with a team-high eight rebounds.
Webster has won seven straight games in the SLIAC, and nine games in a row overall. The Gorloks are 12-4 overall. Webster travels to Principia College (IL) on January 25, and completes its road trip on January 29 at Eureka College (IL). The team returns home on February 5, facing MacMurray College (IL).
