Dominating a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent for a second straight game, Webster defeated Principia College, 85-52, on January 6 at Grant Gymnasium. The Gorloks started out fast, pulling to a 42-26 lead at the half, and kept the pedal to the floor in the second. Jarrod Huskey (FR, Hillsboro HS, MO) led the scoring outburst for Webster with 22 points.
Huskey was nine for 12 from the field, improving his season field goal average to an eye-popping .755 (37-49). Huskey pulled down eight rebounds in the game as well. Nick Jones (SR, Heritage HS, IL) pumped in 18 points, to go along with seven rebounds and three steals. All fifteen players in uniform saw action with 13 getting into the scoring column.
The Gorloks are averaging 77 points per game on the season, 10 points higher than the 67 points the team averaged in 2009-10. Willie Trimble (JR, Riverside CC, CA), Jones, and Huskey are all averaging double figures in scoring on the season. Webster has averaged 85 points for the last three games despite missing last season’s leading scorer, Drew Moore (SR, Northwest HS), with an injury.
The win was Webster’s fourth straight. Webster is 3-1 in the SLIAC and 7-4 overall. The Gorloks are at home on January 8 to take on Fontbonne University and host Washington University on January 12.
