Women's Tennis Continues Successful Fall

Webster 8 Aurora 1 / Webster 9 Concordia-Chicago 0

The Webster University women's tennis team improved to 6-1 on the fall schedule with an 8-1 win at Aurora University (IL), and 9-0 over Concordia University-Chicago, on October 2.  The Gorloks started the day in Aurora and wound up in Chicago to win the nightcap.

Seven different players got in the win column in the match at Aurora.  Allison Tungate (SR, Flora HS, IL), Paige Tungate (SR, Flora HS, IL), Lindsey Hays (JR, Francis Howell HS), Marissa Lewis (FR, Owasso HS, OK), and Kate Coen (SR, Rockwood Summit HS) were all winners in singles.  Izzy Espinoza (FR, Temecula Valley HS, CA) and Sandra Gutierrez (FR, Kaiser HS, CA) partnered for a win in doubles.  Webster also won a singles and doubles match by forfeit.

At Concordia, Paige Tungate, Lewis, Allison Tungate, and Hays were once again victorious in singles.  Freshmen Lauren Hacker (Corona de Sol HS, AZ) and MacKenzie Wilder (Weatherford HS, TX) completed a singles sweep.  In the doubles, the Tungates partnered for a win, as did Hays and Kathleen Kennedy (FR, Providence Catholic HS, IL), and Lewis and Espinoza.

All 10 Gorloks on the roster picked up wins on the day.  Webster completes the fall portion of this year's schedule with a match against Lindenwood University-Belleville (IL) on October 8 at the Webster Groves Tennis Center.
