Bears Win Big Bend Battle, Webster Falls 74-50

Box Score The Webster University men's basketball team took it on the chin, 74-50, in a battle of Big Bend loss at Washington University.  The Gorloks ran into another tough opponent, in an early season schedule that has been merciless to date.  The Bears improved to 6-2, and Webster's opponents in its six losses have now combined for a 30-11 record on the year.  Webster defeated the Bears at home last January but couldn't repeat the feat at the Hilltop.

After falling behind by as many as nineteen, the Gorloks made a mini-run in the second to pull within 12, at 54-42 with 8:47 remaining.  An 18-2 Washington University run quashed any comeback hopes by Webster.  Outsized again, Webster had a 22-44 disadvantage on the boards, as the Bears took advantage.  Roman Robinson (JR, Merritt CC, CA) led the Gorloks with 17 points, and Cody Bradfisch (JR, Jerseyville HS, IL) had nine points on three of six three-point shooting.

Webster falls to 1-6 on the season and will travel to Holly Springs, MS, on December 10 to face Rust College.  The Gorloks are right back home the following day, December 11, to take on Austin College (TX) for the first time ever.
