Gorloks Grind Down Greenville, 68-50

The men’s basketball team hung on to a first place tie in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as Webster defeated Greenville College (IL), 68-50, at home on February 19. The Gorloks are one win away from locking up the #1 seed and hosting the SLIAC post-season tournament. Hitting six of eight three-pointers in the first half, Webster raced to a 41-20 halftime lead and coasted to victory.

Cody Bradfisch (SO, Jerseyville HS, IL) continued on a roll, scoring 15 for the night, lifting his total for the last four games to 63 points. Bradfisch did most of the damage from beyond the arc, going three for three from the 3-point line. Drew Moore (Northwest HS), one of five seniors honored before the game, had nine points and six rebounds. Fellow senior Robby Meeh (Lindbergh HS) had seven points and tied Moore for the team-high with six rebounds.

Also honored before the game were seniors Brad Cookson (Seckman HS), Nick Jones (Heritage HS, iL) and Scott Restoff (Mater Dei HS, IL), all playing their final regular season home game. The seniors have the opportunity to play at home one or two more games if the Gorloks host the SLIAC tournament.

Webster is 12-3 in the SLIAC and 17-6 overall. The 17 wins is the third-highest season total ever for the men’s basketball program. The Gorloks close out the regular season schedule at Fontbonne University on February 22. The first round of the SLIAC tournament will take place on February 25, with the championship on February 26.
