Webster Locks Up SLIAC Tournament Berth

Taking care of business at home, the Webster University women’s basketball team secured a place in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference post-season tournament with a 67-48 win over Greenville College (IL) on February 19. Honored as a senior before the game, Katy Meyer (Parkway Central HS) ended her career at home in style, scoring 17 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and handing out three assists.

The Gorloks were a team on a mission as they piled up a 40-20 halftime lead and extended that advantage to 52-22 in the second half. The team shot 45% from the field for the game and had a season-high five blocked shots. Molly Zehner (Oakville HS) was also honored, as the only other 2010-11 senior for the women. Zehner had four points and two rebounds in her last home game as a Gorlok.

Megan Willett (JR, Parkway West HS) scored eight points and tied Meyer for the team-high with eight rebounds. Loren Douglass (SO, Marquette HS) pitched in with nine points, coming off the bench.

Webster travels to Fontbonne University on February 22 to close out the regular season in the Battle of Big Bend. The Gorloks are 10-5 in the SLIAC and 15-9 overall. The SLIAC tournament will take place on February 24 and 26 at Westminster College.
