Gorloks Bedeviled By Eureka

Eureka College 81 Webster 62

Box Score A Eureka College Red Devil squad that has lept into the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference upper division this season, defeated the Webster University women's basketball team, 81-62, on January 10 at Eureka, IL.  Webster was outgunned from the field, 50% to 32%, and outrebounded, 26-11, in the first half as Eureka built a 20-point lead.  The Gorloks guards came to life with a big half in the second, but it wasn't enough to erode the Red Devil lead.

Kaliann Rikard (SO, Cuba HS, MO) had a career night, scoring 16 points on 6-7 shooting from the field, and also picked up three rebounds and two steals.  Maggie Zehner (JR, Oakville HS) had 14 points and six rebounds before fouling out, while Airyn Miller (JR, Belleville West HS, IL) chipped in with 12 points before fouling out herself.

It was a sloppy game on both ends in regards to taking care of the ball.  Both teams combined for an eye-popping 56 turnovers on the night, with Webster turning it over 26 times to Eureka's 30.  The loss snapped a Gorlok three game win streak.

Webster falls to 2-2 in the SLIAC, and 4-9 overall.  The Gorloks will be back at home on January 12 vs. MacMurray College (IL) and two days later vs Principia College (IL) on January 14.
