MacMurray is Men's Basketball Latest SLIAC Victim

Box Score Maintaining its unblemished record in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, the Webster University men’s basketball team downed MacMurray College, 74-65, at Grant Gymnasium on January 12.   With the win, the Gorloks are  5-0 in the conference and hold on to first place as the only unbeaten team in SLIAC play.

Cody Bradfisch (JR, Jerseyville HS, IL) had his career high, 19 points, for a second straight game, to lead Webster in scoring.  Stefan Whittingham (SO, Ft. Lauderdale HS, FL) had another big night, dropping in 18 for the Gorloks.  Jarrod Huskey (SO, Hillsboro HS, MO) had a strong game on the boards, grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds.  Roman Robinson (JR, Merritt CC, CA) and Dietrick Sooter (JR, Pierce City HS, MO) both had double figures in points as well, scoring 12 and 10, respectively.

The Gorloks fell behind early in the contest, trailing by as many as eight points.  A 10-0 run in the closing minutes of the first half helped Webster enter the locker room tied at 31-31.  The Gorloks took the lead at the 18:12 mark and slowly built it to 11 with 7:00 left.  Despite several late charges by the Highlanders, the closest they could get to the Gorloks for the remainder of the contest was six points.

The win was Webster’s fourth straight as the team imporved to 5-8 overall.  The Gorloks are at home again on January 14 to face Principia College (IL) before travelling to Greenville College (IL) on January 18.
