Box Score Climbing back in the winning saddle, the Webster University women’s basketball team defeated MacMurray College, 70-54, at Grant Gymnasium on January 12. The Gorloks, who saw a three-game streak snapped at Eureka on Tuesday night, improved to 3-2 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, nudging back into third place.
Cassie Endicott (FR, Civic Memorial HS, IL) led the Gorloks with 18 points, the high for her young career. Kalian Rikard (SO, Cuba HS, MO) and Gwen Williams (JR, Ft. Zumwalt West HS) both added eight points apiece in the victory. Williams led Webster with six rebounds and five steals.
Webster continues its improvement in shooting from the field, hitting 43% on each half of the contest. The Gorloks held a 32-21 halftime lead, but the Highlanders crawled to within seven of the lead, 42-35, with 10 minutes remaining in the game. A Webster 14-3 run extended the lead to 56-38 and the Gorloks had the game in hand.
Webster is 5-9 on the season. The Gorloks are home against Principia College (IL) on January 14 at Grant, before travelling to Greenville College (IL) on January 18.
