Gorloks Pound Principia, 69-45

Box Score Winning its fifth game in its last six tries, the Webster University women’s basketball team downed Principia College (IL), 69-45, at Grant Gymnasium on January 14.  Cassie Endicott (FR, Civic Memorial HS, IL) led a Gorlok offensive charge, scoring 18 points in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference battle.

Webster raced to a 42-23 halftime lead, scoring 12 points on fast breaks off 16 Principia turnovers.  The Gorloks shot 53% from the field for the half, and 45% for the game, extending their recent run of hot shooting. All eighteen players on the roster saw action, as Webster coasted in the second half.

In a battle of 6’1 centers with Panther senior Linsday Sydness, Endicott held her own, grabbing five rebounds, blocking two shots, and picking up three steals, to go with her 18 points.  Endicott was 8-9 from the field.  Gwen Williams (JR, Ft. Zumwalt West HS) had 13 points on 5-6 shooting, and pilfered a game-high six steals.  Maggie Zehner (JR, Oakville HS) had 11 points, hitting three of four three-pointers.

The win upped the Gorloks record  to 4-2 in the SLIAC and moved them into a tie for second place.  Webster is 6-9 overall on the season.  The Gorloks travel to Greenville College (IL) on January 18, then to Fontbonne University on January 21, to complete their first half of the SLIAC schedule.
