Box Score Pulling out a hard-fought win on the road, the Webster University women’s basketball team beat Greenville College (IL), 50-46, on January 18. The victory improved the Gorloks record to 5-2 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
After being tied at the half, 23-23, the lead changed hands numerous times in the second with no team having a lead bigger than three points. With the game tied at 44-44 with 1:11 remaining in the game, Megan Willett (SR, Parkway West HS) hit a pair of free throws to give the Gorloks the lead. A steal by Maggie Zehner (JR, Oakville HS), off the Greenville inbounds, led to a Cassie Endicott (FR, Civic Memorial HS, IL) layup to secure the victory.
Zehner led the Gorloks with 13 points and also had a team-high nine rebounds. Endicott had 11 points, grabbed six rebounds, and blocked four shots in the win. Kaliann Rikard (SO, Cuba HS, MO) pitched in nine points and a team-high four assists.
The win was the women’s sixth in their last seven games and they are 7-9 on the season. The Gorloks travel to Fontbonne University on January 21 to face the Griffins, and have a week off before heading to Blackburn College (IL) on January 28.
