Gorloks Make It Seven in a Row VS Griffins, 84-69

Box Score Not letting its guard down on the road, the Webster University men’s basketball team completed the first half of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule with an 84-69 win at Fontbonne University, on January 21.  After an early Griffin lead, the Gorloks left little suspense as to the outcome in the normally spirited rivalry game.

Webster improved to 8-0 in the SLIAC with its seventh straight victory.  Webster fell behind by as many as six early in the contest but tied it at 24-24 with 8:00 left in the first half before going on a 16-0 run to take firm control of the game.

Roman Robinson (JR, Merritt CC, CA) led the Gorloks with 19 points to pace Webster, and had five rebounds.  Stefan Whittingham (SO, Ft. Lauderdale HS, FL) just missed his sixth double double on the season, scoring 14 points and snatching nine rebounds.

Freshman Danny Zehner (Oakville HS) came off the bench to score 12, making four of five shots, including three of four three-pointers.  Dietrick Sooter (JR, Pierce City HS, MO) had seven points, but added four assists and five steals, both team highs.

Webster evened its overall mark on the season at 8-8 with the win.  The Gorloks travel to Lindenwood University for a non-conference game on January 23, and then resume play in the SLIAC with a trip to Blackburn College on January 28.
