Box Score If there is such a thing as an ugly loss, the Webster University women’s basketball team suffered it at Fontbonne University, losing 67-59, on January 21. In a game where both teams combined for 46 turnovers and shot 29% in the first half, the Griffins prevailed.
The loss ended the Gorloks three-game win streak, dropping them into fourth place in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Webster, Fontbonne, and Eureka College are all bunched up in the battle for the number two spot behind undefeated Westminster College.
Cassie Endicott (FR, Civic Memorial HS, IL) had nine points and 10 rebounds, just missing a double-double. Endicott was limited to 18 minutes of play with foul troubles. Courtney Pursley (SO, St. Clair HS, MO) came off the bench to grab 10 rebounds also, and scored six points. Airyn Miller (JR, Belleville West HS, IL) led the Gorloks with 13 points.
Webster is 5-3 in the SLIAC and 7-10 on the season. The Gorloks have a week off before travelling to Blackburn College (IL) on January 28. They complete a four-game stretch on the road with a contest at Westminster on February 1.
