Box Score Coming to life in the second half, the Webster University women’s basketball team won its third straight, a 62-53 win over Spalding University (KY), at Grant Gymnasium on January 7. The Gorloks shot 50% as they outscored the Golden Eagles, 39-24, after trailing at the half.
A defensive struggle to start, Webster had a 2-0 lead at the 15:30 mark, but trailed 29-23 at the half, The Gorloks took control of the contest with an 11-0 run to start the second half, with Spalding not scoring until the 14:13 mark in that period. Webster extended its lead to 51-40 with 6:30 remaining on a pair of Cassie Endicott (FR, Civic Memorial HS, IL) free throws, and never looked back.
Endicott was the high scorer for the Gorloks, along with Barissa Ford (SR, Clayton HS), each with 11 points. Megan Willett (SR, Parkway West HS) led Webster with nine rebounds, and chipped in with seven points. Loren Douglass (SR, Marquette HS) came off the bench to score eight and grab six rebounds.
Webster improves to 2-1 in the SLIAC and 4-8 on the season. The Gorloks travel to Eureka College (IL) on January 10, and return home to face MacMurray College (IL) on January 12 at Grant.
