Box Score The Webster University women's soccer team put on a scoring clinic as they defeated MacMurray College (IL), 10-0, on October 17, at the Soccer Park. Ashley Mess (FR, Northwest HS, MO) had four goals in the contest, the fourth highest total for a single game for the Gorloks.
Mess scored two goals in the first half and added a pair in the second half. The four goals gave her seven on the season, and tied her with three others in the Webster records books with four goals in a sngle game. Christy Capkovic holds the Webster record with six goals in a single game, in the 2009 season.
Kristin Montgomery (SO, Duchesne HS, MO) started the scoring for Webster with her 10th goal of the season, before Ashley Mess netted her first pair. Ally Nikolaus (JR, St. Joseph's Academy, MO) scored her 10th goal of the season in the second half. Montgomery and Nikolaus are now tied for the team lead with Lauren Pratt (FR, Incarnate Word Academy, MO).
Jessica Mess (FR, Northwest HS, MO) also picked up a second half goal, her fourth of the season. Jordan Fosburgh (JR, Collinsville HS, IL) picked up her fourth goal of the year and Lauren Scalise (SO, York HS, IL) scored her second of the season on a PK. Jenna Hopkins (FR, Sacred Heart, IL) completed the Webster scoring with her first goal as a Gorlok.
Jessica Davis (SO, Belleville West HS, IL) had her 10th shutout on the season in goal for Webster. Davis is now tied for second on the Webster single season list for shutouts with 10. Current Gorlok assistant coach Jessica Kozeny holds the all-time record with 12 in 2008.
The Gorloks, ranked 9th in the NCAA III Central Regiona, are 5-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and deadlocked with Principia College for first place. Webster travels to Elsah, IL, for a showdown with the Blue and Gold on October 20.
Webster is 12-4 overall and will be back home on October 23 to face Fontbonne University.
