Box Score Riding a wide open second half run, the Webster University men's basketball team beat Greenville College, 91-61, on December 1, in Greenville, IL. After a close halftime score, the Gorloks outscored the Panthers, 49-22, in the second half. Webster had its largest margin of victory ever, with the 30-point win, at the traditionally tough Panthers' home court.
With the scoring flurry to open the second half, the Gorloks turned a close contest into a romp. The Webster offense came out firing on all cylinders after intermission, outscoring Greenville 33-10 in the first 10 minutes. The Gorloks turned a three-point halftime lead into a 75-49 margin with 9:00 left in the second. From that point on the Gorloks set it on cruise control, as they finished with the win.
Aaron Griffin (SO, Rust College, MS) had 17 points and a team-high 14 rebounds for the Gorloks. Cody Bradfisch (SR, Jerseyville HS, IL) had a team-high 19 points in the game. Roman Robinson (SR, Merritt CC, CA) had 17 points and pulled down 12 rebounds on the afternoon.
Webster tagged Greenville with its first loss, having come into the contest with a 5-0 record. The Gorloks have won three straight and are 2-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Webster is 4-2 overall with the victory.
Next up for the Gorloks is the Big Bend Brouhaha, as Washington University comes to Grant Gym on December 5. Webster toppled the Bears two years ago at home, but Wash U. downed the Gorloks, 74-50, on the Hilltop last year. The Gorloks will then travel to Chicago on December 8 to take on Elmhurst College.
