Box Score Dropping its third St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest in its last four, the Webster University men’s basketball team fell into a first place tie after a loss at Spalding University, 64-61, on February 11, in Louisville, KY.
The Gorloks were plagued by poor free throw shooting as they shot a season-low .500 (13-26) from the line for a second consecutive game. In addition, the Golden Eagles pounded the Gorloks on the boards, out-rebounding Webster 40-25, the team’s second lowest effort on the season.
Stefan Whittingham (SO, Ft. Lauderdale HS, FL) once again led Webster, scoring 20 points on seven of 12 shooting from the field. Roman Robinson (JR, Merritt CC, CA) just missed a double double, with 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds before fouling out. Robinson had an uncharacteristic three fouls away from the ball in a game the Gorloks, 4
th nationally in lowest number of fouls per game for the NCAA III, had 19 called on them.
Webster is 10-3 in the SLIAC and 9-12 overall. The Gorloks are home to face Greenville College (IL) on February 15 and hit the road again to play MacMurray College (IL) on February 18. The regular season home schedule ends with a Battle of Big Bend contest vs. Fontbonne University on February 21.
