Gorloks Shoot Way to 64-54 Win at MacMurray

Box Score Taking advantage of red-hot shooting for a second straight game, the Webster University women’s basketball team picked up a road victory in Jacksonville, IL, downing MacMurray College, 64-54, on February 18.  The Gorloks shot just under 50% from the field (23-47), hitting 63% from the three-point arc, and sizzled at the free throw line, making 93% of their attempts (13-14).  Webster improved to 9-6 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Cassie Endicott (FR, Civic Memorial HS, IL) and Courtney Pursley (SO, St. Clair HS, MO) paced Webster with 14 points each.  Pursley came off the bench to have a perfect shooting game, going 5-5 from the field, 2-2 from three-point land, and 2-2 from the free throw line.  Pursley added a team-high four assists as well.

Megan Willett (SR, Parkway West HS) led Webster with seven rebounds and Maggie Zehner (JR, Oakville HS) pitched in with six boards.  The Gorloks opened a 30-18 comfortable halftime lead before cruising to the victory.

Webster is 11-13 overall on the season.  The Gorloks finish the regular season at home with The Battle of Big Bend II vs. Fontbonne University on February 21.  They then will await their destination and opponent for the first round of the SLIAC tournament on February 24.  The tournament championship takes place on February 25.
