Webster Defense Once Again Shone in Shutout Victory

Women's Soccer Defeats Illinois College, 2-0

Box Score The Webster University women's soccer team, 8th ranked in the NCAA III Central Region, beat Illinois College, 2-0, on September 29, at the Soccer Park.  The Gorloks broke through on a goal by Ally Nikolaus (JR, St. Joseph's Academy, MO) in the first half, and shut down the Lady Blues for the win.

Nikolaus scored her fifth goal of the season off a pass from Jenna Hopkins (FR, Sacred Heart HS, IL) with just over 16 minutes remaining in the first half.  Briana Small (FR, Lake Park HS, IL) netted her second goal of the season to clinch the contest at the 86:08 mark.  Jessica Mess (FR, Northwest HS, MO) was credited with the assist on the goal.

Webster outshot the Lady Blues 29-8.  Jessica Davis (SO, Belleville West HS, IL) had three saves as she earned her fifth shutout of the season.  Davis has a season goals against average of 0.80.

Webster is 7-3 on the season and opens play in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on October 3 vs. Blackburn College, at the Soccer Park.  On October 5, the Gorloks are back at the Soccer Park to face Spalding University.
