Box Score The Webster University men's basketball team fell to Eureka College, 72-64, at Eureka, IL, on January 5. The Gorloks lost their first game in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and dropped their fifth straight overall.
The Gorloks, who trailed 30-29 at the half, fell behind by 12 in the second, trailing 67-55 at the 6:42 mark. Webster rallied to pull within six, 68-62 with 3:42 left and was still down by six, 70-64, with 2:41 remaining. But that would be as close as the Gorloks would get as they were shut out the rest of the way.
Ahmad Smith (SO, Clayton HS, MO) had a career high 27 points in the loss. Smith was 11-19 from the field, 3-6 from the three-point line, and had a team-high five steals. Danny Zehner (SO, Oakville HS, MO) had 15 points as he shot 7-11 on the afternoon. Jarrod Huskey (JR, Hillsboro HS, MO) was a perfect five for five shooting and had 10 points to go with his team-high eight rebounds.
The Gorloks are 2-1 in the SLIAC and 4-7 overall Webster will be home on January 8 to face MacMurray College (IL). The Gorloks then travel to Spalding University on January 10 for a game in Louisville, KY.
