Box Score A standout performance from Sam Kersting propelled Webster University's volleyball team to a 3-1 home win against Principia College (Ill.), 25-19, 19-25, 25-20, and 25-23, Tuesday (Oct. 15). With their sixth consecutive win, the Gorloks are 19-4 overall this season, 12-1 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Kersting (St. Louis, MO / Lindbergh) earned a career-high 25.5 points [kills plus solo blocks plus half of assisted blocks]. Eleven different players, including Kersting, helped Webster amass 75 points in the match. Kersting by herself had one third of the team's points.

Kersting, an All-America third team honoree last season, racked up a career-high 19 kills, topping her previous mark of 18, accomplished twice in 2012. She did so in 36 attacks with three errors for a .444 hitting percentage, the 12th time she has hit .400 or better this season.

For the eighth consecutive match, Kersting had five or more total blocks, this time with five solo and three assisted blocks.

This is the fourth time, third in last four matches, that Kersting has earned 20 or more points in a match this season. She had three 20-point matches last season when she also was named to the all-conference first team. Her previous career-best score for a match was 23.5 points against Westminster (Mo.) Nov. 3, 2012.

Webster compiled 86 digs, second-highest in any match this season and the most in a four-set match. (The highest is 96 in five sets against Augustana Oct. 11.) Four Gorloks contributed with 10 or more digs, led by Katie O'Toole (St. Louis, MO / Lutheran South) with 18.

Jordan Vehlewald (Wildwood, MO / Lafayette) added 15 digs. This is the seventh and fifth consecutive matches, respectively, that O'Toole and Vehlewald have totaled 10 or more digs.

Victoria Jewell (Centennial, CO / Regis Jesuit) and Allie O'Toole (St. Louis, MO / Lutheran South) added 10 digs apiece. The 10 digs is a career high for Jewell.

Webster heads to Texas for four matches this weekend, including two against national-caliber teams. Trinity (Texas) is ranked No. 21 in nation in latest NCAA Division III poll while Springfield (Mass.) is listed among those receiving votes in the national top-25 poll.
