Gorloks Glide by Griffins, 64-52

Box Score Courtney Pursley (Lonedell, MO/St. Clair HS) had 21 points and 14 rebounds as the Webster University women's basketball beat Fontbonne University, 64-52, on December 7 at Grant Gymnasium.  Purley's double double led the Gorloks to victory in the latest Battle of Big Bend.

The Gorloks jumped out to a 24-10 lead in the first half and went into the locker room leading 36-25.  Pursley had a whopping 18 points and nine rebounds in the half, as she went 5-7 from the field and 7-11 from the free throw line.  Webster controlled the boards in the half, having a 27-19 advantage over Fontbonne.

The Griffins made it a game with a run late in the contest, pulling within four at 56-52, with 3:25 left in the game.  A jumper by Brittany Conway-Harris (SO, St. James, MO/John F. Hodge HS) put Webster back up by seven as the Gorloks went on to win.

Harris-Conway wound up with 13 points and seven rebounds.  Kaliann Rikard (JR, Cuba, MO/Cuba HS) had seven points, seven rebounds, and a team-high five assists.  Mia Williams (SO, St. Louis, MO/Hazelwood West HS) came off the bench and had six points and four rebounds in the win.

Webster improves to 2-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and 4-2 overall.

Next up for the Gorloks is a trip to Eureka College on December 14.  Webster has a two-week holiday break before heading to California to take on the California Institute of Technology on December 28 and Pomona College on December 30.
