Box Score There is an old adage it is tough to beat a team three times in a season...but Spalding University made it three for the year over Webster, 70-56, in a men's basketball semi-final in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. The Gorloks fell to the host Golden Eagles, in Louisville, KY, on February 22.
Webster had lost to Spalding, 79-49, on January 10 in Louisville, and 73-64, on February 7 at Grant. Webster fell behind, 32-25, at the half, as Spalding limited them to 11 for 33 (33%) shooting from the field, including one for eight (12.5%) from the 3-point line.
When the Gorloks tried to make up ground in the second half, things didn't get much better as the team shot only one of nine (11%) from beyond the arc, finishing two for 17 overall. Meanwhile, Spalding finished at 49% for the game from the field (26-53) and 37.5% (six for 16) from beyond the arc.
