Men's Basketball Drubs Blackburn, 76-39

Box Score The Webster University men's basketball team sprinted to a 25-6 lead to open the contest, as the Gorloks defeated Blackburn College, 76-39, on January 14 at Grant Gymnasium.   Kevin Miller (SO, Belleville, IL/Belleville East HS) recorded another double double in the win.

Miller recorded his double double in the first half, scoring 10 points and nabbing 10 rebounds before taking a seat for the reserves as Webster took a 38-17 halftime lead.  Head Coach Chris Bunch emptied his bench in the second half as all 14 healthy players saw action, with 11 getting into the scoring column.

The Gorloks held the Beavers to a 19.4% shooting average at 6-31, including 1-11 from beyond the arc.  Webster piled up 30 boards in the half, outrebounding the Beavers 30-16 and 49-29 for the night.

Jonathan Odjo (FR, West Palm Beach, FL/Suncoast HS) had 12 points, hitting 4-6 from the three-point line.  Ahmad Smith (JR, St. Louis, MO/Clayton HS) had eight rebounds and six assists for the game and Aaron Griffin (JR, Farm Haven, MS/Velma Jackson HS) had 10 points, on 3-4 shooting, and five rebounds.  Jarrod Huskey (SR, Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) also chipped in with 10 points.

Griffin and Hunter Ward (FR, St. Louis, MO/Kirkwood HS) excited the crowd, both with booming dunks in the contest.
Webster improves to 4-1 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and  is 7-5 on the season.  Webster hosts Principia College on January 16.  That game will make up for the snowed out contest on January 7.  The game with Principia originally scheduled at home on February 4, will now be played at Principia.

The Gorloks make their first SLIAC visit to Mt. Pleasant, IA, to take on new member Iowa Wesleyan on January 18.
