Box Score The Webster University women's basketball team raced to a 23-6 lead in the game's first 10 minutes, and coasted to a 72-50 victory over MacMurray College. The contest was the opener for the 2014-15 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule for the Gorloks, on November 25, at Grant Gym.
The Gorloks, 1-0 in the SLIAC, are 4-1 to start the season for this first time since 2001-2002, and have now won three straight games.
Junior Ashley Brooks (Hermann, MO/Hermann HS) would finish the night with a double double, scoring a team individual season-high 25 points, and grabbing 10 rebounds. Brooks also had six assists in the game. Brooks leads Webster on the season with a 14.2 scoring average.
By halftime Webster was in firm control, leading 41-20, with Brooks already having piled up 16 points, five assists, six rebounds, and two steals. Webster would finish shooting 44% (29-66) from the field for the game, and forcing 24 Highlander turnovers in the contest. Webster had a season-high 46 rebounds on the night.
Cassie Endicott (SR, Bethalto, IL/Civic Memorial HS) and Brittany Harris-Conway (JR, St. James, MO/John F. Hodge HS) would each score nine points for the Gorloks. Endicott also had nine rebounds and blocked four shots.
All fourteen available Gorloks saw the floor in the game, with 10 getting in the scoring column. Alyssa Sapp (JR, Ashland, MO/Southern Boone HS) came off the bench to score seven on 3-4 shooting, and Aley Lucas (FR, Sullivan, MO/Sullivan HS) had four points and five rebounds.
The Gorloks will be home this Thanksgiving weekend, hosting Augustana College (IL) on November 29 at Grant Gymnasium. Webster will travel to Fulton, MO, to play Westminster College on December 3.
