Box Score The Webster University women's basketball team fell to first-place Iowa Wesleyan College, 64-41, on February 10 at Grant Gymnasium. The Gorloks are 9-4 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and hold down the fourth place spot.
Webster never got completely untracked in the contest. After falling behind 8-1 to start the game, The Gorloks pulled within 10-8 before the Tigers opened up a 19-8 lead and took a 28-16 lead into the half. Webster was plagued with poor shooting in the first, hitting only 10.3% (3-29) of its shots. Wesleyan leads the SLIAC with an 11-1 record.
Courtney Pursley (SR, Lonedell, MO/St. Clair HS) led Webster with 13 points and tied for a team-high nine rebounds on the night. Brittany Harris-Conway (SO, St. James, MO/John F. Hodge HS) had eight points and nine rebounds coming off the bench.
It was Pink Night at Grant Gymnasium as the team, in conjunction with the SAAC, tried to raise funds for and awareness of breast cancer research.
Webster is 12-8 overall on the season. The Gorloks will travel to Greenville College (IL) on February 12 and to Louisville, KY, to face Spalding University on February 15.
