Men's Basketball Grinds Griffs, 83-58

Box Score The Webster University men's basketball team closed out the regular season with an 83-58 win at Fontbonne University.  The Gorloks, led by Hunter Ward's (FR, St. Louis, MO/Kirkwood HS) 19 points and nine rebounds, finished 15-3 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and will head to Louisville, KY, this weekend for the conference tournament.

The Gorloks had 14 players see the floor and 11 in the scoring column.  Center Kevin Miller (SO, Belleville, IL/Belleville East HS) had 15 points and six rebounds, and Aaron Griffin (JR, Farm Haven, MS/Velma Jackson HS) had eight points and five rebounds on the night.

Webster fell behind 9-2 with 14:20 left in the first half before order was restored.   The Gorloks went on a 31-9 run to take a 33-18 lead and firm control of the contest.  The Griffins closed the half strong with a 12-6 run of their own, but the Gorloks entered the locker room up 39-30.  Webster extended its lead to 19, 64-45, with 10:00 remaining and coasted to victory.

Webster closed the regular season winning 13 of its last 15 game and is 18-7 overall on the season.  The Gorloks will play MacMurray College in the semi-finals of the SLIAC Tournament on February 28 (see accompanying article) at host Spalding University (KY).  Spalding finished first with a 16-2 record.
