The Webster University women's tennis team finished fourth in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, falling to Westminster College, 5-4, on April 26 at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in Forest Park.
For the Gorloks, it was deju vu as the Gorloks lost to the Blue Jays in Fulton, MO, 5-4, on April 16. Webster won the #1 doubles behind Marissa Lewis (JR, Owasso, OK/Owasso HS) and Kaylen Kress (SO, Bartlett, IL/Bartlett HS), but lost at #s 2-3 to go down 2-1.
The Gorloks took the #s 1-3 singles, only to lose at
s 4-6 to fall in the match. 5-4. Lewis extended her singles winning streak to 11 at 1 with a straight sets win. Kress won at straight sets at #2 as did Isabella Espinoza (JR, Temecula, CA/Temecula Valley HS) at #3.
Lewis ends the season with the winning streak in hand and was 12-4 in singles and 11-7 in doubles for the year. In match play, Lewis was 11-3 and 10-6, going 1-1 at both singles and doubles in ITA Tournament play. Along with partner Kaylen Kress, she won 10 of her final 13 doubles matches on the year.
Kaylen Kress (SO, Bartlett, IL/Bartlett HS) wound up 9-4 in singles play, all at #2, and 10-6 in doubles play, all at #1 as well. Kress won her last five singles matches in a row and along with Lewis, won 10 of her last 13 doubles matches on the season.
The women's team had to cope with injury this season, losing #3 singles and #2 doubles player Kathleen Kennedy just five matches into the spring schedule.

The Gorloks finished the season 5-11 overall. Webster will lose no seniors from this year's squad, and will return three juniors and a sophomore with considerable playing experience for 2014-15.
