Box Score The Webster University women's basketball team dropped its sixth game in its last seven as the Gorloks fell to Iowa Wesleyan College, 61-47, on January 8 at Grant Gymnasium.
The Tigers entered the contest in first place in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and remained perfect at 6-0 in league play. The Gorloks fell to 2-3 in the SLIAC and are currently in fifth place.
Webster took an early 11-5 lead at the 14:00 mark in the first half.  But Wesleyan fought back to take a 15-13 lead at 9:20. The Tigers extended the lead to 27-17 and had a 30-22 lead at the half. Wesleyan shot 46% (12-26) from the field and Webster 30% (9-30) as the Tigers were 5-11 from the three-point line. The Gorloks shot 2-10 beyond the arc in the half.
An Ashley Brooks (JR, Hermann, MO/Hermann HS) three-pointer cut the Gorlok deficit to six, at 32-27, just over two minutes into the second half.  After a Wesleyan timeout, the Tigers extended their lead to 46-37 at 8:40, and led by as many as 14 before ending up 61-47 winners.
The Gorloks out rebounded the Tigers, 36-31, but had an unusually low total of three steals in the contest. Wesleyan wound up shooting 44% to Webster's 38% from the field, but also converted 14 of 16 free throw attempts in the game as the Gorloks only got to the line six times (4-6).
Brooks led Webster with 13 points and also pulled down seven rebounds. Center Cassie Endicott (SR, Bethalto, IL/Civic Memorial HS) just missed the double double with 10 points and nine rebounds.  Brittany Harris-Conway (JR, St. James, MO/John F. Hodge HS) had 10 points, on 5-8 shooting, and five rebounds.
Webster has lost four straight and is 5-7 overall on the season. The Gorloks will be home again on January 10 as they host Greenville College (IL) at Grant.Â
