The Webster University women's tennis team lost a close match, 5-4, falling to Dickinson College (PA) at Hilton Head, SC, on March 10. The Gorloks almost took the match after falling behind, 3-0 after doubles play but came up just short.
Webster won four of the six singles match ups, and just missed pulling off the comeback. Freshman Monica Behrle (Atlanta, GA/East Paulding HS) moved up to #1 for the match and continued her dominant season with a straight set win. Behrle improved to 10-1 on the year at singles, with her first win at #1.
Marissa Lewis (SR, Owasso, OK/Owasso HS), who normally plays at #1, moved to #3 due to injury concerns but had no trouble, winning in straight sets while dropping only one game. Lewis is now 8-2 on the year in singles.
Freshmen Jesse Steffens-Willis (St. Louis, MO/Rockwood Summit HS) and Stephanie Lass (Lakes Villa, IL/Lakes Community HS) both picked up wins at the #5 and #6 singles, respectively. Stephens-Willis won in straight sets and Lass edged out her opponent with a tie-breaker win.
