Playing in the dry confines of King's Point Tennis and Fitness Center in Belleville, IL, the Webster University women's tennis team defeated Westminster College, 9-0, on April 2. The Gorloks improved to 4-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference while winning their seventh straight match.
Marissa Lewis (SR, Owasso, OK/Owasso HS) won her eighth straight, at #1 singles, and Monica Behrle (Atlanta, GA/East Paulding HS), won her eleventh straight singles match, at #2. Lewis is 15-2 on the season in singles play and Behrle is now 17-1 on the year.
Kaylen Kress (JR, Bartlett, IL/Bartlett HS) won at #3 singles and improved to 12-5 on the season, while Jesse Steffens-Willis (St. Louis, MO/Rockwood Summit HS) improved to 12-6 with her seventh win in a row, at #4, Stephanie Lass (Lake Villa, IL/Lakes Community HS) improved to 10-7, winning at at #5, and Chelsea Foster (SO, St. Louis, MO/McCluer North HS) won at #6.
All of the Gorloks' singles wins were in straight sets. As a team, Webster has not lost a singles or doubles match in its four SLIAC contests. The Gorloks are 11-4 overall on the season. Webster hosts Lewis and Clark Community College on April 9 at the Webster Groves Tennis Center. The complete Westminster results were:
