The Webster University women's tennis team split a pair of matches in Columbia, MO, on April 16, defeating host Stephens College, 8-1, and losing to Missouri Valley College, 5-1.  The Gorloks opponents were both NAIA athletic scholarship programs.

Stephens came into the match at 4-1, including wins over SLIAC members Principia College and Greenville College but that didn't intimidate the Gorloks as they easily defeated the Stars.  Webster went up 3-0 in doubles play and were 5-1 in singles play with its only loss by default.

Webster won all five singles match ups in straight sets vs. Stephens.  The match vs. Missouri Valley was a more tedious task.  The Vikings, who came into the contest at 8-4, took a 2-1 lead in doubles play, with Jesse Steffens-Willis (SO, St. Louis, MO/Rockwood Summit HS) and Stephanie Lass (SO, Lake Villa, IL/Lakes Community HS) winning at #3 doubles. 

The Vikings, its roster with a heavy international flavor, won the first three completed singles matches, giving them the necessary five points for a win and the match was called with Missouri Valley up, 5-1.

The Gorloks are 12-9 overall on the season.  Webster has away matches left vs. Westminster College on April 20 and Greenville College on April 23 before the SLIAC Tournament on April 29-30.
