The Webster University women's tennis team advanced to the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship, defeating Greenville College, 6-0, in the semi-finals.  The Gorloks are in the championship for the fourth time in the last five years after the victory at the Dwight Davis Center, on April 29 in Forest Park, in St. Louis.

The Gorlok took a 3-0 lead after easily sweeping doubles play.  Monica Behrle (SO, Atlanta, GA/East Paulding HS) and Kaylen Kress (SR, Bartlett, IL/Bartlett HS) won 8-2 at #1, as did Madison Watts (FR. Rogersville, MO/Logan-Rogersville HS) and Sara Rice (FR, Mahomet, IL/Mahomet-Seymour HS) at #2.  Jesse Steffens-Willis (SO, St. Louis, MO/Rockwood Summit HS) and Stephanie Lass (SO, Lake Villa, IL/Lakes Community HS) won 8-0 at #3.

Once Behrle, at #1, Kress, at #2, and Rice, at #3, all won in straight sets in singles, the match was called with Webster having surpassed the five wins necessary.  Behrle is 16-8 on the season in singles play, and Rice improves to 15-7 and Kress to 15-9.

Webster improves to 15-9 on the season with the win.  The Gorloks won a hard-fought, 5-4, match over Principia on April 11 at the Webster Groves Tennis Center.  In the last six seasons, Webster and Principia have each won three SLIAC championships.

In head to head tournament championship finals, Webster defeated Principia in 2012 and 2015, while losing to the Panthers in 2013.  Principia has won the championship 18 of the 25 years in the history of SLIAC tennis, with Webster and Westminster College the only other schools with titles.

Webster and Principia will play the championship match on April 30 at 2:30 p.m., at Kings Point indoor facility in Belleville, IL.  The match was originally scheduled for Dwight Davis but is being moved indoors based on the forecast.  The complete results for the Greenville match:
