The Webster University women's tennis team won their first of five matches in Hilton Head Island, SC, on March 12, as it defeated Stockton University (NJ), 6-3.  The Gorloks had arrived on March 11 for their annual spring break trip.  The 'Loks took charge against the Osprays in doubles and singles, securing their first win of the spring season.
 
Play began with doubles and the Gorloks quickly matches at #1 and #3.  Both lines executed at the net, with their new doubles strategies paying off against their opponents.
 
"I think we played the best we have all season," said Hannah Muren (SO, O'Fallon, IL), "we were all ready and on point today."
 
At singles, Stephanie Lass (JR., Lake Villa, IL) had her first singles victory at #6, winning 6-2, 6-0.  Monica Behrle (JR., Atlanta, GA) and Chelsea Foster (SR., St. Louis, MO) both lost their first sets but rallied back to easily take the second, and then won in tiebreakers for the third.  Madison Watts (SO., Rogersville, MO) also won at #3, and the Gorloks won their match 6-3.
 
"I'm very happy with our first team win of the spring," said Head Coach Martha Davis-Goldstein. "I'm looking forward to the rest of our week here."
 
The Gorloks play next on March 13 at 12:00 p.m. against Nazareth College. Go Loks!
