The Webster University tennis team played its last match of its spring break trip, losing to the College of Wooster, 7-2, on March 17 at Hilton Head, SC.  The Loks had a successful trip, winning their first four matches before losing to the Fighting Scots.

Both the Gorloks' wins came in singles. Behrle rallied back from her doubles match to win against a tough opponent.  It was one of the best matches Behrle has played, and she had to adjust her normal strategy to win 6-2, 6-2.  At #4, Jesse Steffens-Willis (JR., St. Louis, MO) also had a spectacular match.  After losing the first set, she found her rhythm and came back to win the match in three.  This was her first singles victory of the spring.

In doubles, the Loks played hard but loss all three lines. Monica Behrle (JR., Atlanta, GA) and Madison Watts (SO., Rogersville, MO) played well at #1, exchanging games with their opponents, but they ultimately fell 8-5. At #3, Chelsea Foster (JR., St. Louis, MO) played with Jordan Struckman (JR., O'Fallon, MO) for the first time this trip. Foster was strong at the net, and Struckman complemented her with deep groundstrokes, but Wooster pulled ahead 8-3 in the end.
 
"We played a really tough team today," said Behrle. "My match was difficult because I played a girl who liked a lot of slice, and normally people don't, so I had to figure out a way around that."
 
"It felt great to get a singles win and watch (Behrle) get a win against a tough opponent on the court next to me," Steffens-Willis said. "I still think everyone played well today after a week of hard matches. I'm really proud of how we played this week, and I'm ready to get back to St. Louis and dominate."
 
With the loss, the Gorloks finish the week at 4-1 and are now 5-5 on the season.  They have a few days off before their next match as they host Kaskaskia College on March 22 at the Webster Groves Tennis Center.  Go Loks!
