Webster University's Maria Soffner has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference 'Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week' for September 25. For Soffner (SR, Creve Coeur, MO/Incarnate Word Academy), it is her first POW honor.

Soffner was a defensive force in the Gorloks two wins last week; averaging 8.43 digs per set. Soffner recorded 37 digs in a 3-1 win over Illinois College, the ninth highest single match total for digs in Webster volleyball history. She followed with 22 more digs in a 3-0 win over Fontbonne, giving her 59 digs on the week and helping extend her team's winning streak to nine. Webster is 8-0 in the SLIAC.
