Tuesday Top 5: Men's Soccer Career Saves

WEBSTER GROVES – In today's latest Tuesday Top 5, which delves into some of the top five statistical lists in the history of Webster University Athletics, we look at one of the oldest career records in the history of the men's soccer program. These statistical lists are based on actual rankings by the statistic or category listed with information on each of those student-athletes in the Top 5 rankings.

Today's Tuesday Top 5 looks at the Top 5 totals for goalie saves in the 36-year history of Webster University men's soccer. Four of the five career goalie save marks were set prior to 2000, including the school record mark of 478 that was set by Bob Stevens from 1991-94. This group of five Gorloks accounted for a total of 1,087 saves during their playing careers in the net for the Gorloks.

His career save record has stood since 1994 as he shattered the old school career mark of 184 saves that was set by Paul Mullen from 1987-89. Stevens' 478 career goalie saves are second most in the history of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as Greenville's Steve Moore set a new career mark of 516 from 1998-2001. In his career as a Gorlok, Stevens, who was a three-time All-SLIAC selection (1991, 1993, 1994) recorded 100 or more saves in three of his four seasons in net, including tallying a single season school mark of 148 saves in 1994.
