WEBSTER GROVES – Without sports for the 2020 first semester, Webster University Athletics looks back at some events that took place during the week for This Week in Gorlok Athletics History – Dec. 21-27.
 
Dec. 21, 2013 – Webster men's basketball used a basket with four seconds left in the game from Aron Griffin to complete a come-from-behind 68-67 win over Monmouth College in a non-conference contest at Grant Gymnasium. Griffin's winning basket came after he rebounded a missed shot from Ahmad Smith and put in the game winning shot to seal the win and improve Gorloks record to 5-4 on the season. Griffin finished the game with eight points and four rebounds. Kevin Miller paced the Gorloks with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Smith added 13 points and Hollis Edwards tallied eight points and a team-high five assists. The Gorloks, who trailed 46-31 at the half, trailed 63-50 with four minutes left in the contest, when they ended the game on an 18-4 run that began with a lay-up and free throw by Miller. Webster was outrebounded, 40-31, but had only 13 turnovers and forced 23 Monmouth turnovers. In addition, Webster outshot the Scots, 25-15 at the free throw line. For the game, Webster shot 42 percent from the field and 13 percent from the 3-point line, while Monmouth shot 41 percent from the field and 33 percent from the 3-point line. Recap | Box Score
 
Dec. 22, 2010 – Webster men's basketball player Willie Trimble was selected by Earlaustinjr.com as its Area College Player of the Week on this date in 2010. Trimble earned the honor by Earlaustinjr.com following his play for the Gorloks in the Lon Varnell Classic in Sewanee, Tenn. In the two games at the Varnell Classic, he averaged 18.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game and was named to the Lon Varnell Classic All-Tournament Team. In Webster's win over Sewanee, Trimble had 15 points, two rebounds, four assists and steals and then followed that up with 21 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals and was 9-for-10 from the free throw line in a win over Berry (Ga.). Dec. 23, 2013 – The Webster Athletics Department unveiled its Hall of Fame Class of 2014 inductees on this date in 2013. Webster's seventh Hall of Fame Class included three former Gorlok student-athletes and one long-time athletic department employee. The Hall of Fame Class of 2014 inductees were Angela Martinez (women's soccer, 2001-03), Brett Mueller (baseball, 2005-08), Gail Vogt (softball, 2005-07) and Sue McClintock (athletic staff member, 1988-2005).  The four Hall of Famers were selected by a committee made up of faculty, coaches and staff. Dec. 24, 2019 – On this date in 2019, the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced that the league's baseball postseason tournament will now be held at CarShield Field in O'Fallon, Mo. The league signed a two-year agreement to hold the SLIAC Baseball Tournament at the facility in both 2020 and 2021 and the league has an additional two-year option available in 2022 and 2023. The 2020 tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2021 tournament is scheduled for May 6-8 and will include the top four teams in the final standings. The winner of the SLIAC Tournament receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament. Recap

Dec. 26, 2013 – Webster women's soccer player Ally Nikolaus was named an Honorable Mention selection to the 2013 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Division All-Central Region Scholar Team. During the 2013 season, Nikolaus was named the SLIAC Player of the Year and was also a First-Team All-SLIAC selection for the third consecutive season. She recorded 10 goals and 27 points on the year. She also named to the NSCAA All-Central Region teams for women's soccer in both 2011 and 2012. Recap
