Women's Cross Country

Williams Finishes 18th in Regionals

GENEVA, Ill. - The Webster University men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Geneva, Illinois, this morning to compete in the NCAA Division III Regional Championships at Northwestern Medicine Cross Country Course. The men's team took 23rd out of 32 teams with a team score of 656 while the women did not have a team score.

"I'm very proud of how our athletes ran today." Said Head Coach Kyle Robinson. "They ran a hard, gutsy race on a challenging course."

The men's team was led by Cameron Sakuma who finished in 76th place out of 230 runners in the 8K race with a time of 27:07. Sam Baker was not too far behind Sakuma as he finished in 106th overall with a time of 27:32. In addition, Kaelin Triggs took 131st with a time of 28:02, Caleb Fletcher finished 153rd with a time of 28:53, Christian Gray finished in 210th with a time of 32:42, and Joshua Clark took 222nd with a time of 34:27. Sam Baker, Kaelin Triggs, and Christian Gray all ran their fastest 8K's of the season.

"Our senior guys competed well today, with Sam finishing right on his PR." Said Robinson. "I am very happy to see the effort they've put in this season pay off."

The women's team was led by Kyanne Ruth Williams who took 18th place out of 204 runners in the 6K race. She finished with a time of 22:37 which is her fastest career 6K time. Williams was named All-Region for the second straight season and will find out Sunday, November 13th if she has qualified for the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships. Megan Bartz also ran for the Gorloks as she took 116th place with a time of 25:48 which was a personal record.

"Our senior women both showed out today." Said Robinson. "Kyanne and Megan both PR'd, with Kyanne also picking up All-Region honors."

This marks the end of the scheduled meets for the 2022 Webster University Cross Country season. The Gorloks will have to wait until Sunday, November 13th to see if they had any individuals qualify for the 2022 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships.
