CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Webster University men's and women's track and field teams were back in action yesterday when they traveled to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to compete in the 2022 Redhawks Open at Southeast Missouri State University. There were not any team scores for this event.
Jordan Lande led the way for the women's side as she took home first place out of five competitors in the triple jump with a distance of 12.87 meters. Her distance of 12.87 meters shattered the old Webster women's indoor track and field record of 10.20 meters that was set in 2018. She also took third place in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.85 seconds. In addition to Lande,
Micah Barnes also had a great showing as she took first place in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:52.32. The full women's results are as follows:
On the men's side,
Elijah Perez led the way for the Gorloks as he took second place out of seven competitors in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.61 seconds. In addition to Perez,
Landon Garland took seventh place in the long jump with a distance of 5.31 meters and
Jeremiah Johnson took 13
th in the shot put with a distance of 8.18 meters. Johnson also finished 11
th in the weight throw with a distance of 10.89 meters. The full men's results are as follows:
The men's and women's track and field teams are back in action on Saturday, February 26th when they travel across the river to Elsah, Illinois, to compete in the SLIAC Indoor Championships. The meet is set to take place at Principia (Ill.) College.
