ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The 2021-22 Academic All-District® Women's Track & Field / Cross Country Team, selected by CoSIDA, was announced this morning. This award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the classroom and in their sport. For her efforts this year,
Danielle Schultz was named CoSIDA Academic All-District® for District 5.
Schultz, a junior out of Swansea, Illinois, is an Exercise Science major with a 3.89 grade point average. She had one of the best school years in Gorlok history as she was named the SLIAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year, the SLIAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, and the SLIAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year. She became the first Gorlok in school history to qualify for the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championships while also qualifying for the 2022 NCAA Division III Indoor Nationals in the 800-meter. She finished 14
th overall in the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships after recording a school record time of 2:15.69. She was named First Team All-SLIAC in cross country while earning All-SLIAC in the 800-meter, the mile run, and the 4x400 relay in both indoor and outdoor track and field. This is her first career Academic All-District® selection.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-June.
The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
