Gorloks Season Ends in UMAC South Tournament

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University women's tennis team was back in action over the weekend when they competed in the UMAC South Division Championships at Dwight Davis Tennis Center. The Gorloks took on the Greenville (Ill.) University Panthers and fell by a final score of 5-0.

The Gorloks had a tough time getting anything going to start the match as they dropped all three points in doubles. Bailey Higgins and Kylie Chitwood nearly won #1 doubles but ultimately fell to Addison Brannon and Lanie Carder by a final score of 8-7 (1). Evie Schuetz and Bailee Pineda fell in #2 doubles by a final score of 8-2 while Maddie Mena and Chloe Daughtry fell in #3 doubles by a final score of 8-3.

Webster's struggles continued in singles as Greenville won #2 and #3 singles to solidify the win. Bailey Higgins dropped #2 singles by final scores of 6-3 and 6-0 while Maddie Mena dropped #3 singles by final scores of 6-1 and 6-1.

With the loss, the Gorloks season ends with a 12-7 overall record. The team will return to the courts in the fall.
