Women’s Tennis Earn A Split In Indiana With Victory Over Franklin College

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Webster University women's tennis team traveled to the state of Indiana for a double-header against Trine University and Franklin College. The Gorloks dropped the opening match to Trine but responded with a dominant 6-1 victory over Franklin College.

Match #1: Webster 0, Trine 7

The women's team opened the day with double competition and dropped all three matches. The No. 1 duo team of Kylie Chitwood and Journee White went toe-to-toe against their opponents that forced a tiebreaker set. In the tiebreaker set, the battle continued to go point-for-point as Chitwood and White ultimately fell later by the score of 7-9.

In the No. 2 singles match, first-year Lucy Paro battled her opponent in Emma Beehler and forced a tiebreaker set after taking the second set. However, TU's Beehler took the lead and stayed ahead.

Match #2: Webster 6, Franklin 1

In the second match of the day, the Gorloks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead by taking all three double matches. In the No. 1 double match, WU's Chitwood and White captured a dominant 6-1 victory while the No. 3 team of Chloe Daughtry and Bailee Pineda won their match by the same margin. The No. 2 doubles team of Maddie Mena and Paro conquered a 6-2 victory.

In singles matches, the Gorloks handled business and took five-of-six total matches. Pineda and Evie Schuetz blanked their opponents in straight sets with 6-0 victories. In the No. 3 singles match, Mena eliminated her opponent by the scores of 6-3 and 6-2. Paro took down Sydney Carson in the No. 3 singles match by the scores of 6-2 and 6-4.

The Gorloks will have a week filled of practices before traveling to Greenville, Illinois for a neutral site match against the University of Dubuque on Friday September 13.
