Men’s Tennis Drop Non-Conference Match To Central

PELLA, Iowa. - The Webster University men's tennis team continued non-conference play with a visit to Central College on Saturday. The Gorloks fell to the Dutch by the final score of 0-7. 

Webster and Central opened the match with doubles competitions and the Gorloks earned one victory. In the number one doubles match, the duo of Matthew Birchmeier and Ethan Foucheaux battled back-and-forth with their opponents. Late in the match, Birchmeier and Foucheaux worked great together and secured the 7-5 victory. 

In the second doubles match, the team of Carson Fisher and Eli Bartek captured three set victories but dropped the match by the score of 3-6. 

In the number three doubles match, the duo of Jack Forlenza and Tyler Gonzales secured two set victories but fell by the score of 2-6. 

In singles play, the Gorloks battled but dropped all matches. In the number one singles match, Foucheaux faced off against Ayden Fletcher and won the first set by the score of 6-0. In the second set, Foucheaux secured three set victories but fell by the score of 3-6. In the third set, Foucheaux dropped the set 0-1 that generated the loss. 

In the number two singles match, Fisher captured three set victories against Jack Briggs but dropped the match by the scores of 1-6 and 2-6. 
 
In the number three singles match, Birchmeier was tasked against AJ Wilkins and secured the opening set victory by the score of 6-4. In the second set, Birchmeier fell by the score of 2-6 that forced a third set. In the third set, Birchmeier battled but dropped the set 0-1 for the defeat. 

In the number five singles match, Nicholas Granada faced off against Ernest Alvarex Chedzoy and won the back-and-forth battle in the opening set by the score of 7-5. In the second set, Granada and Chedzoy went point-for-point as Chezdoy took the second 7-5 that forced a third set. In the third set, Granada battled but dropped the set 0-1 that lost the match. 

In the sixth singles match, Forlenza lined up against Gavin Joblonski and dropped the match by the final scores of 2-6 and 0-6. 

The Gorloks will open conference play on Tuesday, April 1 hosting Greenville University starting at 3:00PM in Webster Groves, Missouri.
