Women’s Tennis Fall To Central

PELLA, Iowa. - The Webster University women's tennis team continued non-conference play with a road visit to Central College on Saturday. The Gorloks captured two victories but dropped the match the score of 2-5.

Webster and Central opened the match with doubles competition as the Gorloks won one doubles match. In the number one doubles match, the team of Kylie Chitwood and Journee White secured the lone doubles victory by the score of 6-3.

In the number two doubles match, the duo of Maddie Mena and Lucy Paro battled their opponents with back-and-forth play but dropped the match late by the score of 7-6.

In the number three doubles match, the team of Riham Benjelloun and Evie Schuetz captured one set victory but fell by the score of 1-6.

In singles competitions, White earned the lone singles victory of the match as she eliminated Madi Whalen by the identical scores of 6-3.

In the number two singles match, Paro faced off against Jenna Mitsuko Mahoney and dropped the opening set by the score of 4-6. In the second set, Paro blanked Mahoney by the score of 6-0 that forced a third set. In the third set, both student-athletes displayed back-and-forth but Paro fell late by the score of 8-10.

In the number three singles match, Chitwood captured four set victories against Becca Vala but dropped the match by the scores of 6-2.

In the number four singles match, Mena was tasked against Lauren Gano and dropped the opening set by the score of 2-6. However, Mena responded in the second set with a 6-2 victory that forced a third set. In the final set, Mena battled but dropped the set 0-1 that led to the loss.

In the number five singles match, Schuetz faced off against Emma Murphy and captured one set victory but dropped the match by the scores of 1-6 and 0-6.

In the sixth singles match, Benjelloun secured one set victory but fell by the final scores of 0-6 and 1-6.

The Gorloks will open conference play on Wednesday, April 2 hosting Mississippi University for Women starting at 1:30PM in Webster Groves, Missouri.
