Women’s Tennis Blank Westminster For Seventh Victory Of Season

FULTON, Mo. - The Webster University women's tennis team continued the spring season with a match against Westminster College on Sunday at William Woods University. The Gorloks captured the season sweep of the Blue Jays with a dominating 7-0 victory. With the victory, Webster improves to 7-5 overall for the season.

Webster and Westminster opened the match with doubles competitions as the Gorloks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with three victories. In the number one doubles match, the team of Kylie Chitwood and Journee White shutout their opponents by the score of 6-0. In the second doubles match, the duo of Maddie Mena and Lucy Paro blanked their opponents for the 6-0 victory. In the third doubles match, the team of Bailee Pineda and Analiese Smith battled their opponents to a 6-4 victory.

In singles play, the Gorloks handled business and took all six matches that helped secure the victory. In the number one singles match, White lined up against Hayley Lale and cruised to a 8-1 victory.

In the second singles match, Paro faced off against Claire Sanders and took her down by the final score of 8-3.

In the third singles match, Chitwood was tasked against Jade Barlow as Chitwood shutout Barlow 8-0 for the victory.

In the fourth singles match, Mena lined up against Emily Heighman and defeated her by the final score of 8-1.

In the fifth singles match, Pineda blanked Ginna Meisenheimer for the 8-0 victory.

In the sixth singles match, Smith played against Amber Pratt and defeated Pratt 8-3 for the victory.

The Gorloks will continue non-conference play on Wednesday, April 16 hosting Kaskaskia College for a match at Webster Groves Recreation Complex.
