Hill Places Fourth Overall In Collegiate Debut At Webster Opener

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Webster University women's cross country team opened the 2025 season by hosting the Webster Opener at Buder Park North Friday evening. At this season opener, half of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference member teams (Blackburn, Lyon, Principia, Spalding, and Westminster) competed in the 5k race. WU's first-year Violet Hill shined bright in her collegiate debut as she placed four overall out of 39 competitors.  

Hill, who just arrived on campus last week from Leadville, Colorado, let her presence be known in the conference as she was the fastest SLIAC competitor in the race and placed fourth overall with a time of 22:04.3.. 

With this time, she finished approximately 48 seconds faster than the next SLIAC competitor that crossed the finish line which was Principia's Sophia Green with a time of 22:52.5 as she placed sixth overall. 

The Gorloks will have a week of preparation before traveling to Owensboro, Kentucky on Saturday, September 5 and competing in the Panther Prowl XC Classic at Yellow Creek Park.
