INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Webster University men's golf team wrapped up the Wabash College Invitational Tuesday, finishing ninth out of 16 teams after three rounds at Broadmoor Country Club.
The Gorloks finished with a team score of 894 (+30), improving in each round throughout the tournament. Webster opened with a 305 (+17) before shooting 299 (+11) in the second round and closing with its best round of the tournament, a 290 (+2).
Nico Marin led the way individually for Webster, finishing 24th overall with a three-round score of 220 (+4). Marin carded rounds of 75 (+3), 73 (+1) and 72 (E), steadily improving throughout the tournament.
William Simonsen finished just behind Marin, tying for 25th with a 221 (+5). Simonsen opened with a 76 (+4), followed with a 72 (E) and closed with a 73 (+1).
Sam Sutton tied for 37th at 224 (+8) after rounds of 73 (+1), 78 (+6) and 73 (+1). Thanaphat (Big) Amornjaturaporn also finished strong, tying for 64th at 231 (+15) after shooting a 73 (+1) in the final round.
Erik Malmgren rounded out Webster's scoring five, tying for 67th with a 233 (+17). Malmgren saved his best round for last, shooting a 72 (E) on Tuesday after rounds of 84 (+12) and 77 (+5).
Kenyon won the team title with an 846 (-18), while Emory's Kevin Mu claimed individual medalist honors at 198 (-18).
The Gorloks will return to action Oct. 26-27 at the Columbia College (Mo.) Invitational at Columbia Country Club in Columbia, Missouri.
