Marin and Amornjaturaporn Fire One-Under 71's, Marin Ties For Sixth Overall; Gorloks Finish Fifth At 2026 SLIAC Championships

CASEYVILLE, Ill. - The Webster University men's golf team closed out the 2026 SLIAC Championships with the final round on Tuesday at Far Oaks Golf Club. Nico Marin and Thanaphat (Big) Amornjaturaporn recorded one-under par scores of 71. Marin finished the tournament tied for sixth overall with a score of 220. As a team, the Gorloks earned a fifth place finish with a tournament score of 910. 

Marin opened the final round with a birdie on hole nine then went back to even-par with a bogey on hole 10. Following a par on hole 11, he carded a birdie on hole 12. Following that birdie, he recorded four consecutive pars then a bogey on hole 17. 

Marin continued the round with back-to-back birdies on hole 18 and one to be at one-under for the round. He then followed up with three consecutive pars on holes two through four. Following a bogey on hole five, he closed out the championship with three pars for the score of 71. For the round, he recorded 11 pars, four birdies, and three bogeys. For the tournament, he carded 28 pars, 11 birdies, 11 bogeys, three-double bogeys, and an eagle. 

Thanaphat (Big) Amornjaturaporn moved up 14 spots in the player leaderboard in the final round with a one-under par 71 score. He opened the round on hole 12 with a par then recorded two bogeys. He then got a stroke back with a birdie on hole 15 then gave it back with a bogey on hole 16. 

Big continued the round with a par on hole 17 then recorded back-to-back birdies on hole 18 and one. Following a par on hole two, he recorded a birdie on hole three. Following a bogey hole four, he got that stroke back with a birdie on hole six. Following that birdie, he recorded three consecutive pars on holes seven and nine. He closed out the round with a bogey on hole 10 and a birdie on hole 11 for the one-under score of 71. For the round, he carded seven pars, six birdies, and five bogeys. With the addition of all three rounds, he had 27 pars, 14 bogeys, nine birdies, three double-bogey, and a triple-bogey. 

Oscar Petitjean finished third on the team for the tournament that included a final round score of 78. He opened the final round on hole 10 with consecutive bogeys but got a stroke back with a bridie on hole 12. He then carded two bogeys but added back-to-back pars on 15 and 16. 

Petitjean then had two double-bogeys on hole 17 and 18 but followed up with three consecutive birdies on hole one through three. Following two bogeys, he recorded a par on hole six. He then got a stroke back on hole seven with a birdie and added a par on hole eight. He closed out the round with a bogey for the score of 78. For the round, he carded seven bogeys, four pars, five birdies, and two double-bogeys. For the entire tournament, he carded 27 pars, 13 bogeys, nine birdies, three double-bogeys, and triple-bogeys.

First-year Erik Malmgren moved up six spots in the player leaderboard with a final round three-over par score of 75. He opened the final round on hole 11 with a par then carded a bogey on hole 12. He then recorded a par on hole 13 then a birdie on hole 14 to be at even-par for the round. 

Malmgren continued the round with a bogey and an unlucky triple-bogey on hole 17. However, he got two strokes back with back-to-back birdies on holes 18 and one. He followed up with three consecutive pars on holes two through four. Following a bogey on hole five, he closed out the round with five consecutive pars on holes six through 10 for the score of 75. For the round, 11 pars, three bogeys, three birdies, and a triple-bogey. For the tournament, he recorded a tournament score of 234 that included 31 pars, 14 bogeys, five birdies, three double-bogeys, and a triple bogey. 

Sophomore Cole Makgill moved up on spot in the final player leaderboard with a seven-over par 79 final round score. He opened the final round with a double-bogey on hole 13 but recorded a par on hole 14. Following a bogey on hole 15, he recorded three consecutive pars on holes 16 through 18. 

Makgill continued the round with a double-bogey on hole one but got a stroke back on hole two with a birdie. Following a bogey on hole three, he recorded back-to-back pars on hole four and five. After a double-bogey on hole six, he carded a par on hole seven. Following a bogey on hole eight, he recorded three consecutive pars on hole nine through 11. He closed out the final round with a birdie on hole 12 for the score of 79. For the round, he carded 10 pars, three bogeys, three double-bogeys, and two birdies. For the tournament, he recorded a tournament score of 239 that included 25 pars, 16 bogeys, seven double-bogeys, five birdies, and an eagle.
