LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Webster University men's golf team claimed the team championship at the Transylvania "WildBat Invite" this weekend at the University Club of Kentucky – Wildcat Course, finishing the three-round tournament at 5-over par.

The Gorloks opened the tournament at 6-over par before posting a 3-under round in the second round. Webster closed the tournament at 2-over in the final round to finish five strokes over par and take first place.

William Simonsen led the way individually, winning the tournament at 10-under par. Simonsen opened with a 3-under 68 before shooting a 4-under 67 in the second round and a 3-under 68 in the final round. His 203 total placed him three strokes ahead of the runner-up.

Sam Sutton and Nico Marin each finished tied for seventh overall at 1-over par. Sutton recorded rounds of 72, 67 and 75, while Marin carded rounds of 73, 72 and 69.

Erik Malmgren finished tied for 43rd at 18-over par, posting rounds of 77, 80 and 74. Connor Luvin also finished tied for 43rd at 18-over, shooting rounds of 79, 75 and 77.

Webster finished 14 strokes ahead of runner-up Mount Union, which finished at 19-over par. Randolph-Macon's B team placed third at 20-over, followed by Asbury at 32-over.

The WildBat Invite championship marks a strong start to the 2026 season for the Gorloks, who finished with both the team and individual champions at the tournament.

The Gorloks will return to action Sept. 27-28 at the Rhodes Fall Invite in Tunica, Miss., at Tunica National Golf Club.
